We already know that Trump is dangerous for abortion access and so many of the other freedoms we hold dear. During his first term, he enabled the overturn of Roe v. Wade and the suite of state abortion bans and attacks on abortion access that followed. These restrictions have created a cruel patchwork of laws—and life-or-death consequences—for patients who are denied critical care and for providers who risk being criminalized just for doing their jobs. Today, more than a dozen states completely ban abortion and more than 25 million women of reproductive age, plus trans and non-binary people, are living in states where abortion is banned or restricted.

Trump has bragged about ending Roe and now he could sign a national abortion ban; make it easier for states to deny people emergency, life-saving abortions; and appoint multiple Supreme Court justices who could further decimate our rights. During the first week of his second term, he pardoned at least 23 anti-abortion criminals, and his DOJ announced it would not enforce the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act except in extraordinary circumstances. Our lives, our families, and our futures are on the line.

This is a crisis moment, but it is also a time to recommit to protect and restore abortion access. NAF is more committed than ever to supporting abortion providers across the country with services like security, continuing medical education, and training to help them keep their doors open so they can serve their patients.
